The vehicle that we are going to look at today is the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class. Launched in 2013, the car received an overwhelmingly positive response, resulting in 100,000 sales in its first year alone.
Although the vehicle was officially introduced in 2013, it made its first appearance a year prior in the form of the Concept Style Coupe. Having appeared at numerous international locations, the car gave us a tiny glimpse at the production version of the car, which eventually was announced to be the CLA-Class.
The luxury grand tourer differs quite a lot from the Concept, although the two do share a number of elements.
Appearance-wise, the CLA-Class looks intriguing and fresh, even though it doesn’t necessarily bring anything new or innovative to the table.
Luxury is definitely one of the car’s main strengths, with elements throughout the car reinforcing the idea of comfort and elegance.
Powered by a variety of different engines, depending on the model, the vehicle is also quite powerful. The base model comes with a 1.5-litre l4 turbo engine capable of producing 120hp, however should you want something a little more powerful, the 2016 AMG CLA 45 4MATIC model, comes with a 2.0-litre twin-scroll turbo l4 capable of producing 375hp.
The car proved quite popular with customers and even though it has been criticised by some for not being more like the brand’s other cars, it did rather well sales-wise.
One of the main things about the car that people seem to be most excited about is its price. The CLA-Class is quite cheap for a vehicle of its time making it very popular with those working on a budget.
If you’re after a luxurious car that’s affordable and quite attractive, you’re going to love the CLA-Class. If, on the other hand however, you are after something more extravagant and grand, you’d be better off looking at the brand’s more upscale models.
