When it comes to small family cars, Volvo definitely knows what it’s doing. Having always placed great focus on safety, the brand is often what comes to mind when thinking about car safety.
Much like its predecessors, the Volvo V40 is a fantastic example of what a compact family car should be. It’s just the right size and it offers a comfortable driving experience, which let’s be honest, is all you can expect from a vehicle of its type.
Since it’s aimed at people with families, the car isn’t too extravagant or extreme and that’s reflected in its appearance. It sports a quite tame look, which works well with what the car is trying to achieve. It’s not boring or dull, however it also likely isn’t going to win any awards for its styling.
Launched in 2012, the car comes with a variety of different engines available, giving people flexibility depending on what they are after. Again, it’s not the most powerful vehicle ever produced, however it’s comfortable enough to satisfy those after something less extravagant.
Of course, the vehicle comes packed with extra features, such as the many safety features Volvo is renowned for.
In 2013, one year after the car was launched, the Volvo V40 Cross Country was introduced. It’s larger compared to the standard V40 and comes with larger wheels and protective body panels.
Its reasonable price is one of the car’s strongest selling points and together with its safety and hassle-free performance, it guarantees anyone after a small family car will be pleased with the vehicle.
Is the V40 the best vehicle ever produced? Not likely, however it does exactly what you’d expect from a vehicle of its type so if you’re after a safe family car, it will definitely meet your expectations.
